For me the past year was one of those non years where we did not get to shout and bawl or make our noise anywhere to the extent that we live for. One of those standby years I suppose. It was also one where a huge metallic cloud - one like I have never known - seemingly drifted in mid way through and just could not be moved. November '77. It was precisely that month when our six month lark as Johnny And The Self Abusers finally came to a crashing and chaotic end following one last "justforthehellofit" set at Glasgow Art School. No one really remembers deciding why and when we would call it a halt, I guess somehow it felt that it was all just as it was meant to be. The band was formed on a whim after all, probably disbanded on one also. All of the artists I admire very few impress me more than Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. To this day she is still one of the few artists that I would like to record with and I usually verify that whenever the question is asked. Somehow I am confident that I will get my chance, when the moment is right that is - and if the right song appears. All it takes is a little more patience perhaps! Well perhaps that and a little help from Charlie Burchill to make things go even smoother, Chrissie was always a big fan of Charlie.
